Equipment

  • 1 baking sheet
  • aluminum foil or parchment paper

Ingredients

  • 1 Medium Sweet Potato
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius).
  • Wash the sweet potato thoroughly, scrubbing the skin well to remove any dirt.
  • Dry the sweet potato with a clean towel or paper towel.
  • Pierce the sweet potato with a fork multiple times around its surface. This will help the heat to penetrate into the potato and cook it evenly.
  • Rub the sweet potato with a small amount of olive oil, just enough to lightly coat it.
  • Sprinkle salt and pepper over the potato to taste.
  • Place the sweet potato on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
  • Bake the sweet potato in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until it's tender and easily pierced with a fork.
  • Remove the sweet potato from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Split the sweet potato open with a knife, and fluff the inside with a fork. Add more salt, pepper, or other toppings as desired (e.g., butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, sour cream).

Notes

Please note: Cooking times can vary based on the size of the sweet potato. Larger sweet potatoes may take longer to cook.
