Ingredients

  • 4 large juicy limes
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 cups cold water
  • 6 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • Ice for serving
  • Instructions:

Instructions

  • Start by thoroughly washing the limes to remove any waxes or pesticides. Dry them and cut off the ends.
  • Cut the limes into quarters. Don't peel them—the peel gives the lemonade its unique flavor.
  • In a blender, add the limes, sugar, and half the water. Blend until the limes are broken down, which should take about 30 seconds. Don't blend too much or the drink can become bitter.
  • Strain the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher, pressing with the back of a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.
  • Pour the rest of the water into the pitcher and mix well.
  • Add the sweetened condensed milk to the pitcher and stir until fully incorporated.
  • Serve your Brazilian Lemonade over ice for a refreshing drink.

Notes

Note: Feel free to adjust the quantity of sugar and sweetened condensed milk according to your taste. Also, some people prefer to remove the peel and just add a little zest to avoid any bitterness. Enjoy your homemade Brazilian Lemonade!
